In the third quarter of 2024, the performance of the top communication apps in Latin America displayed varied trends in downloads, revenue, and active users, as reported by Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained its dominance with weekly downloads peaking at around 2.6M in mid-August, while its weekly revenue saw a slight increase, reaching $141 by the end of September. The app also experienced a consistent rise in weekly active users, growing from approximately 313M at the start of the quarter to nearly 318M by the end.

Telegram showed a steady increase in weekly revenue, culminating at approximately $101K in the last week of September. Downloads fluctuated throughout the quarter, peaking at 1.7M in late August. Its active user base remained relatively stable, hovering around 29M.

WhatsApp Business experienced a notable surge in revenue, reaching about $67K in mid-September. Weekly downloads hovered around the 1M mark, while active users remained stable, closing the quarter at approximately 29M.

Snapchat observed a gradual increase in weekly revenue, with a peak of $12K towards the end of September. Downloads showed variability, peaking at over 1M in late August, while active users fluctuated but remained above 87M.

Messenger faced a decline in both downloads and active users throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads started at about 1M and ended at approximately 850K. Similarly, active users decreased from around 68M to 65M. Revenue, while modest, reached a high of $352 in early August.
